It's not even necessary for Sennheiser to do the shilling themselves, there are companies who specialize in viral marketing, social network engineering...
Subcontracting is very possible.

True. You have to admit though that the 700 is quite the niche product. Paying for the research and execution of a guerilla campaign for what's ultimately a low volume product for Sennheiser doesn't make much immediate sense. I would be as impressed as I would be surprised if Senn's outsourcing this m.o. for the whole range and shills begin popping up for everything from the RS220 to the Amperior.

If the product doesn't suck and fits well in the market, this wont be necessary. Compare that to risking the entire company's reputation, including sponsorship, by going about it the wrong way. Anyhow, there are plenty of kids out there who will do reviews for free headphones, which is considerably less dubious.

I have entertained the question seriously and asked Jude (on the phone) and he said Sennheiser has been around too long and knows better than to contemplate something like that and Rosmadi wouldn't be dishonest in that way. What anode said too. I might take the suggestion more seriously if it were the HD25s or something else further down the range, but Jude likes those and people know it.
