Good amp/dac for HD650?
« on: June 23, 2012, 05:20:27 AM »

Hey I just purchased the HD650 from a fellow head-fier and I currently have the LavryDa11.  Would this be enough to push it?  It did the LCD-2rev2 pretty easily.  Can you guys please name a few amp/dacs that run the HD650 well?

Thanks.

The DA11 works just fine with the 650s. In fact, Dan Lavry used the 650s as his primary headphones during the design of the DA11 from the DA10.

+ 1 for DA11 and HD650 - it is a ine combo. And the DA11 is a great dac - siutable for amp upgrades/sidegrade. With the DA11 as a dac, you get a free quality amp :D

With the usb based power, will it give headshaking volume for the senns like the jdslabs o2 when needed? (The jdslabs is higher in gain vs the epiphany version by the way)  :)p14

The best sound I've heard from the HD650 was via a La Figaro 339...

I'm starting to lose faith in USB powered devices. The performance jump from Pico DAC to the ancient Parasound D/AC-1600 was one of the most tremendous I've experienced. They can reassure me all they want about superb power conditioning and shiz, but the performance drift across different USB ports is quite large.
