Hello new comer here!
« on: June 18, 2012, 10:45:41 PM »

Hello I am Hawaiiancerveza.  Some of you may have  seen me on head-fi but I came here to learn more about headphones/sound anything I can pick up that I never knew (which isn't a lot...lol).  I currently live in Hawaii hence the Hawaiiancerveza.  I have had my share of headphones such as:

-Shure srh840 (sold) I didn't like how the headphone made my head hot.  I wasn't to fascinated with the sound either.
-Denon D2000 (sold) I liked the sound but didn't like the long cord.  I had it modded by moon audio with the blue dragon cable 5ft long.  I really loved the sound than and the mids were brought out a little more.
-Sennheiser hd555 (currently have for my wife)/pc360 (currently trying to sell)/hd-25 i (sold)
-Audeze LCD-2 (sold) I loved the sound but felt that the sound stage just hit the wall and ended.  I got the Q-audio cable 5ft and it opened up the sound stage a little.  Not quite as much as the AKG Q701's.
-Hifiman He-4 (sold) I liked this headphone but I wanted to upgraded to the LCD and was happy with that choice.
-AKG Q701 (currently using) Awesome sound, very neutral and I love the sound stage!

and amps such as:
-ibasso cobra (sold) Sounded awesome for my first amp!
-ibasso T3 (sold) Didn't impress me that much...
-NFB-5 (sold) Was good but took too much room on my desk.  It was too warm for my taste.
-Vioelectric V200 (sold) It sounded great but the sound stage was a little to small for me.
-Lavry Da11 (currently using)I love the neutral sound.  Some say its dry... I don't feel that way but that its very transparent.

Thats some of my hifi experience.  I wouldn't mind hearing some stax ear speakers, or some other headfi gear such as the LCD3, Fostex TH900, and some other amps.  But it sucks because I live in Hawaii and there aren't any can jams here.  Other than that I am a college student trying to get my DPh in physical therapy.  I an also a CNA and work with HOSPICE.  For those of you who have never heard of it, I work with people who are terminally ill.
Some of my hobbies are:drawings, surfing, going to the beach, reading, playing some video games, hitting the weight room and playing sports.

Other than that I am just an average guy living one day at a time.

But the main reason I came here was to learn more about headfi things.

Aloha

Checking out the stickies in measurement sub forum is a good place to start learning.  Just looking through the comments about the measurements of the individual headphones will be useful too

Thanks for the suggestions maverickronin! I'll do just that.
