What is your opinion of the Ultrasone ED8

It's a good sounding headphone.
It's good, but I've got some reservations about certain aspects of it.
It's OK. Nothing special.
I don't like it, but I can see why others do.
It's a bad sounding headphone.

I need some serious help with a "study". Please vote. Part 1 of 7. I respect everyone's opinion here on ER. There will be seven parts.

What is your opinion of the ED8.

Also, we are just talking sonics, price should not be factor.

HONEST ANSWERS DESPITE HOW I MAY PERSONALLY FEEL ABOUT IT ARE APPRECIATED.

Hmm...  I only heard one very briefly and quite a while ago.  I don't really remember much about them other than I was neither impressed or offended.

I don't think the treble was as nasty as the one you measured though since I'd probably remember that.

Not sure what or even if to vote...

I've heard others - they didn't seem to be as nasty as QH's

Guess I'll give it an "OK" and chalk it up to variation...

Quest, I think the ED8 was your sacrifice to the Headphone Gods to give you a good LCD-2 rev2.  How long did you own the ED8?  Would be good for others to know what they have to do to get a good LCD-2.

Hmm. I got them mid-January, sent them down for measurements around end of February and sold them mid-March. It's a shame. They sure were pretty.

Apparently the guy I sold them to loves them, so win-win all around.

  • Is tari a wizard

Owned the LE's for a couple weeks but had them up for sale after a couple days.  Sonically they were meh-to-bad, and with price factored in selling was a no-brainer.

However, unlike the PRO 900's which were downright terrible and unlistenable, I could see where someone else with very different tastes and preferences could find redeeming qualities in the ED8's irrespective of price.

  • First you get a swimming pool full of liquor...

My biggest beef with the Edition 8 is the glaring, sibilant upper-end. I do like other facets of it though. I just don't listen to it much, and I could never have it as one of my "main" headphones.

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

Having never heard them I am not qualified to make a judgement.
