Niiiice. Thanks again, Marv, and sorry about the technical difficulties.
Spot on, Strato, this is the MS1000. One of the darkest headphones I own, haha.
This is one of my first headphones in this bobby. A friend had a pair of MS1's back when I was listening to Bose and I fell in love with them. First open headphone. I ordered a pair and to my dismay, mine sounded nothing the same: bright, dry, and grainy. His (by manufacturing inconsistencies, 'burn-in', etc.) were warm and not fatiguing. Anyway, with the help of a coworker's skill with a lathe, I had the distancers made and spent he rest of the time trying to remove sibilance and boost bass (I'd like to think the ghetto fabric on the inside of the pad helps a bit with sibilance, haha).
Final mods:
-punch four bass holes on back of driver felt
-12mm (IIRC) distancers. Look at the MS1000 thread to see how they work
-3 vent holes at 120 deg around distancers (~2mm in diameter)
-felt glued to inside of distancers (will use adhesive felt next time)
-fabric glued on inside of GS1000 pads (will probably avoid next time)
