JVC DX-1000, Thoughts?

(1/3) > >>

JewBear:
Hello Pyrates,

I'm thinking about purchasing the JVC DX-1000 while I still can. There dosen't seem to be any discussion about it on Changstar so I was wondering what you all thought about it. I currently have the TH-600, but really want something warmer tonally and better isolation. I mean, I guess I could wait till the Ether-C comes out, but what's the fun in that?!

JewBear:
Just searched again and found some comments my Marv and others saying it was a POS. Not sure why I didn't see it first time I searched. Anyways, is that still the consensus? May just spring for the Blackwoods if that's the case (or the Ether C).

Luckbad:
I actually love the DX1000 and plan to get another. I also have the TH600.

The JVC has actual closed back isolation. It does not have hot treble at all. The bass is slightly more pronounced but doesn't get as slammin' as the TH600 with EQ.

The earpads are kinda weirdly shaped for a larger ear like I have, but I think the Audeze LCD pads might fit.

If I can sell my TH600, the DX1000 will likely be my next headphone purchase after I acquire expendable income.

I really only sold my last pair because they had a hairline crack and I didn't need both headphones.

How's the tonal balance? I find the TH-600 quite cold.

I hear it like the charts, largely. There's a romantic warmth to the DX1000 vs. the more aggressive TH600.
