Harmony 8 Pro Impressions?
« on: August 09, 2015, 07:06:52 PM »

Anybody here spend enough time with a Customart Harmony 8 Pro to get a good feel for them? Looking for a silicone CIEM for the comfort but I was wondering how they do as reference/neutral transducers.

I bought a custom pair and have the universals as well. Piotr does pretty good work tuning-wise.

Agree with Kunlun in that the H8P lacks a bit of the sub-bass thump, but there's a polite bump in the lower end that's in the right region, making the CIEM sound punchy. Coming from someone that's sensitive to treble fatigue (dislike most Beyers and most Grados because of it), the H8P does it right. Exciting without being fatiguing or shrill.

They're not ruler flat, so not really for professional use. If you're looking for something slightly V-shaped that performs well across genres, give them a look. Silicone is/was a big selling point for me and CustomArt, I enjoy the warmth and flexibility it brings. I know some other people that actually prefer acrylic though, so it's not 100% guaranteed it'll be better for you.

They roll off quite steep at 100Hz, are slightly humped from 1kHz to 200z, maybe by 8dB, have a weird peak at 2kHz before troughing through to 8kHz. This gives a lack of clarity. The bass makes them slightly warm and the treble feels a bit metallic and quick on decay. Overall they are a nice and super comfy but lack the distinction, focus and detail of some similarly priced CIEMs such as Hidition Viento-R and Heir 10.A. These are just a bit smudged in comparison.
