Shouldn't short the Yggy internally. Unless there's a return path through the power outlet

I thought it sounded sort of dry and raspy so I put it in the bathtub. About to fire it up, I'll let you know how it goes.

As Jason said, bad idea. For example, ground is common on ZD.

I have an idea: let's simply use the Yggy as the designers intended. I'm sure Jason can't wait until some jackass who doesn't know WTH he is doing smokes something on the board and wants free service.

You can improve the sound quality by using magnet wire instead. The best dielectric is no dielectric after all, plus the red colour absorbs infrared radiation to provide quantum level energy and release the electrons so they move faster (Einstein won the Nobel price for his research here on the photoelectric effect).

Indeed, my Golden Urine XLR to SE cable uses magnet wire. No or minimal jacket as you can see. The magnet wires are separated by clear tape.

Already happened.

Unless you know, for a fact, that the RCA input is differential (no connection to system ground)--and this means that you built it yourself, and you know it is in the 0.01% of builds using an ungrounded differential RCA, then shorting any active XLR pin to ground is a bad idea--always.

You should just tell people to get something like this: http://www.radialeng.com/jdiduplex.php
And find a "vintage" one on ebay that has Jensen transformers inside for testicular fortitude.

Do you think there may be an acoustic leak from the jack hole? ~Tyll Hertsens

Not sure if I like stuffing one hole or both holes. Tending toward one hole since both holes seems kinda ghey ~Purrin

I already tried: http://www.changstar.com/index.php/topic,2346.msg73846.html#msg73846

Despite this, people in his hobby still cling to "HOPE": http://www.changstar.com/index.php/topic,2346.msg73998.html#msg73998. "HOPE" that some cockamany solution will actually work as well as a proper solution.

Test is flawed.  Your cable is clearly dehydrated.  Immerse it and your dac in water and try again!

Better yet, use some of these with Ric's magic xlr-rca adapters - http://www.teoaudio.com/liquid_cable.php.  Conductivity is lower than lead (http://www.teoaudio.com/files/LiqCable-MSDS.pdf), but hey they use liquid conductors and thus obviously sound amazing and "liquid"....
