Rum Thread

CCS:
Just started some Bacardi Anejo. I think it may be an inferior, but possibly acceptable, sipper. But, it may be a superior rum for Cuba Libres or daiquiris. Perhaps not a better all around cocktail rum, but for my favorite mixes, including a very simple mix of rum and pineapple juice, it may work better than Black Seal.

The journey continues.

CCS:
Almost finished with a fifth of Mount Gay Eclipse gold rum. Not a good sipping rum, by any means. The flavour has some depth and complexity to it, but the rum is too sweet and there is no boldness to the opening flavours, nor those that lie underneath the front notes.

As a shooter, the rum is exceptionally smooth, with little to no burn, despite its standard 80 proof potency. May also be good in cocktails, but for Cuba Libre (my favourite rum cocktail), I'd prefer Bacardi Anejo or Oakheart.

It may be a while before I've had anything new, but I will definitely be back to weigh in on a number of other pyrates' spirits.
