Is that little deal at 4k something that might be an issue?

Thanks for posting these.

always was curious bout the R10's. shame the drivers don't match up anymore. they look like they could be really awesome sounding pair from sony. makes me edgy now though on wanting to sought after the CD3000 if this can happen over time with them. maybe that's why they changed material with the 010 Qualia and SA line-up.

Sorry, I assumed they were two floors for the good driver, didn't look closely at the labels... That's what I get for assuming...

It's interesting that putting aside the ridges of ringing on the bad driver, it is also "choppier" than the good driver throughout the spectrum.  Even where it has fast decay, at 5k for example, it's still choppier.  I assume this is a sign of more subtle resonance that is decaying quickly but not very even?  I wonder if this kind of look is indicative of driver resonances, and not enclosure problems (unless the problem is in the foam deteriorating).

It's also interesting that the good driver has this choppy look in one spot in the high treble.  So if we assume this is coming from the drivers aging, it would be really cool to see what they looked like new, maybe they used to be even cleaner than the good side.
