Could this be done in a thread totally dedicated to only the CD title and essential information?

Also one of my favorite DCC's. Cost me a pretty penny too!

It was because of this set that I tracked down a mint mono LP set of the Gershwin Songbook. Amazingly, the tone is very similar to the DCC, needing just a push here and there to get awesome sound.

Louis are you impressed by any of the AF Gold CDs? I don't find they have that something special the DCCs used to. Of course so much more of the music just seems like bargain bin albums compared to some of the choice DCC titles.

The ones I really love:

Bad Co s/t
Crosby Stills Nash s/t
Dio Holy Diver

The rest are ok to very good. But I'm not blown away by them, like the DCCs.

Not really.....

I liked the following thus far:

Heart - Greatest Hits
James Taylor - Sweet Baby James
The Zombies - Greatest Hits
Crosby Stills Nash s/t

That's about it. The rest are fantastic when compared to other modern re-issues but when compared to the DCC's they are just blah.

I much prefer the releases Hoffman has done with Analogue Productions lately. Audio Fidelity is meh....crappy titles most of the time IMHO.

Although recently it has been ultra hip to hate on this guy, I have actually really enjoyed the Phil Collins' releases from AF.

As longs as I am on the subject of drummer-singers, I found the original target of Don Henley's Building the Perfect Beast to sound great and it is cheap too.(Geffen 9 24026-2)

I am not sure if we are sticking to cds, but the HDAD of I Robot by The Alan Parsons Project is supposedly as close to the master tapes as you'll ever get and has got me considering taking tomorrow's "special" date to heart for a dedicated listen.

Hating on Phil Collins FTW!  :-*

(I do like his stuff with Peter Gabriel era Genesis)

Roxy Music Avalon 2003 Remaster SACD
(or SACD layer converted to 24/88 - don't ask me how.)
Remastered by Bob Ludwig/Masterdisc

A remaster that actually sounds good! Maintains dynamic range of the original and just done really well with how it sounds tonally and in the spirit of the album.

This is NOT the same at the late '90s remaster also by Bob Ludwig which is compressed to shit.

Analogue Productions / CAPJ 009 / 24 Karat Gold Limited Edition, mastered by Doug Sax. Spanks the SACD release. Just absolutely incredible sound, easily the best CD I own. I've also heard very good things about the Analogue Productions / AAPJ 009 / 180g Vinyl edition, also mastered by Sax. There's also a new 24/192 HDTracks release that I'd like to check out.

The Doug Sax release comes from the WRONG tapes. Moreover, Doug closed in the channels.

The version you want is the Paul Stubllebine release or the Hoffman/Gray 45RPM vinyl release.
