I'd like to get some more laid back cans for on the go mobile use that has a mic/remote, can get a set of Sennheiser Momentum on-ear headphones for a fair price, anyone used them?

Are they remotely similar sounding to the Sennheiser HD25-1 II ?

Had them.
Liked them more than their over-ear brothers which were uncomfortable and didn't really grabbed me. Do note though like as with most on-ears, bass is a bit elevated. For $80 or less used, I'd probably go for them unless you can find some V-Moda XS... ;)

For on-ears, I would probably rank some like:

KEF M500
V-Moda XS
Onkyo ES-CTI300
Momentum On-ears

Good luck.

I tried them once at a Best Buy. They fit better than the so-called over ear version but don't sound so good as they, because the on ears aren't so clear or immersive. Both are warm-sounding, rolled off on top, and darker-toned; neither sounds anything like the V-shaped HD25-1. If you don't mind folding your ears, the over ear is the best of the three. Are you sure you don't want an IEM? :-\

Or he can just get the new 2.0 versions which seem to be more comfortable and better sounding according to recent notes I've seen.

Thanks for the feedback, IEM's not on because you can't take them on and off in a flash or if you do your ears start to get a bit raw. Build on the Momentums seems very good and they don't look too over the top which is something to consider if you are walking around in public with cans on.

The 2.0 version is quite pricey still, 1.0 is around $120 these days new.

The Sennheisers sound pretty nice, but I would still go for the V-Moda XS any day of the week. Just my personal preference though.  :-*

I have the on ears, i like them for what they do well. Sound warm and make bad quality sound tolerable. So they are my portable/tablet/phone cans.
