Random question: do we loss some informations or bits when we convert files? ex: flac to aiff/alac with audirvana

If you are converting from one lossless format to another, it should be fine.

Converting from lossy to lossy is a bad idea.

I like to re-encode my 128Kbps mp3 files to flac for maximum quality

Find out for yourself. Convert a file, line them up in a DAW, phase invert
one and export the result. You'll have complete silence.
