Guys,
my expert-in-audio friend looked at the innards of the amp and pronounced that the 4 fast-act fuses were blown and the audio transistors (4 sets of them) were also shorted. I've emailed and called Klaus at Odyssey for help but have not heard from him yet.
In the meanwhile, any suggestions would be welcome. But my friend also finds it weird that I am getting any music at all.

Doh sounds like your cousin needs a spanking.  I hope it can be repaired.  You just got the amp too

Yeah. The guy looked so contrite I just had to let it go. Anyway, Klaus emailed me and told me that my technician friend was doing the right things. I have ordered the audio transistors from Hong Kong. Ahhh... the wait.

I'm a little confused... how does flipping the interconnects short out the power amp?

Do you think there may be an acoustic leak from the jack hole? ~Tyll Hertsens

Not sure if I like stuffing one hole or both holes. Tending toward one hole since both holes seems kinda ghey ~Purrin

Trust me...I have no idea how this happened. This is what my friend said: When he first opened the top cover, all the 4 fuses were blown and charred. So he did a cold check and he was not fully satisfied. So he pulled out the board to check on the solder side and he found the power transistors to be shorted. He rechecked again by unsoldering the transistors from the board and found the same short.

Both Klaus and he are puzzled I was able to hear anything at all. For a full week, I was able to hear undistorted sound but at a much higher volume level.

So the three of us are confused now !!

Two stage damage?

Something got damaged that allowed more power to places where it shouldn't have been, for a week, thus damaging those places?

Just guessing. Obviously.
