UE4 versus UE900?
« on: February 01, 2015, 02:32:40 PM »

So the (Ultimate Ears) UE4 and UE900 are the same price, at least on the Ultimate Ears website.  Apart from the fact that the UE4 is a custom IEM and the UE900 is a universal, does anyone know what the differences are sound-wise?

I can't think of anyone owning both (here at least), but I know CEETEE and others have compared the UE4 very favorably to the UERM, which is certified booty. Do a search on "UE4 UERM" Read the UE4 measurements thread and you should find plenty of impressions about UE4; some call it "baby UERM". CEETEE also compares the UE900 in there. As between custom and universal, sound and comfort benefit tremendously with custom. When I was ready to spend that much on a universal, I took the plunge on customs and have never regretted it. Impressions cost money, refits are a pain if needed, but the comfort and sound are totally worth it.

I prefer UE4.  Clearer, better mids.  I also prefer the ear wire and fit of even the UE4 demo over the UE900.  Really good, only in clear.  Not for bassheads or people looking for warm sound.  I had the UE demos for a long time and my favorites were:  UERM, UE4, UE7.

Thanks aufmerksam for the reference and thanks CEE TEE for weighing in. :money: Do you remember the UE4's treble being fatiguing during long listening sessions?
