Resonessence Labs Concero HP -> Schiit Valhalla 2

Yes, yes, I know that the Resonessence Labs Concero HP is a DAC/AMP combo without line-out.

However, I am wondering how much of a performance hit I would take compared to the Resonessence Labs Concero HD (which is DAC only), if I were to run a 1/4" to RCA cable out of the headphones jack of the Concero HP to the line-in of the Valhalla 2.

Please help me out, and has anybody tried something similar?

I already have the Concero HD with Valhalla 2, but I want something portable to drive my HD800 when I'm on a trip or showing headphones to friends and family, etc. The Concero HP runs my HD800 fine when I demoed it, but I really can't afford both the HD and HP, so one must go in favour of the other.

So at home, I'd have the Concero HP running to my Valhalla 2.

Please, has anybody tried running a stand-alone amp out of the headphones jack of a DAC/AMP combo before?

There was a lot of discussion of this when the Concero HP was introduced.  There may be something on the Resonessence website, and it may have been mentioned in Grandberg's review.

IIRC, the amp section puts out right around 2V when the volume control is maxed out.  It's not exactly optimal, but it's definitely do-able.

Actually, the amp section puts out 3.5Vrms when the volume control is maxed out, so you have to drop the volume or else you get input overload, lest the Valhalla can handle it.
