Jex,

that's a resounding statement! When you say 99%, are you implying 99% (or close to) on such characteristics like detail retrieval, blackness, tonality etc etc?

I'm also hearing hum coming from the motor of my refrigerator when the amp is turned off. Why does your amp not project a cone of isolation over me and my headphones?

I can verify I am having this defect as well. Is there an official company statement yet? Need to RMA now!

Also, I duct taped a battery to the wallwart line in, and the amp will not turn on. I have tried AA, AAA, 9V and D batteries. I will try C batteries tonight, but I may just have a defective unit.

Fools. Everyone knows the old "battery to wallwart line in" and "upgrade powerplant" tricks are just gimmicks propagated by Energizer and GE. You need a wyrd for the dac on your refrigerator.

You mouth breathing cave dwellers still use refrigerators?  I use inductive cooling Tupperware for all my foods.

Zero audible distortion, and I have to buy less or I can't eat it all before it spoils.  That savings partially offsets the five figure increase in my electric bill.  And the vet bills for all the lumps my cat has strangely developed.

On the more serious side: I'll be receiving my magni 2 uber today. I've never heard the original magni, but the uber seems like it could really fit my needs.

Mine will be here on Friday. In retrospect, I wish that I'd have paid the extra $6-7 for faster shipping. My Magni 2 Uber is in Utah....UTAH! ;_;  It just passed through Salt Lake City where they don't even allow music.

Ordered the Modi 2 Uber.  No experience with the original Modi to compare it to, but I'm looking forward to it...will be paired with the Vali.

Quick impressions...copied from my Head-Fi post where everyone is complaining about the input button:

I just upgraded from the HRT MSII to the Modi 2 U.

Here are my quick and dirty impressions:

1)  The biggest and most immediately noticeable difference is that the bass is more present and the music hits harder than it did previously.  This can be a good or bad thing depending on your headphone and your listening preference.  The difference was not subtle listening with the 400i.

2)  The background is slightly blacker.  This is unmistakable in extended listening sessions, but still rather subtle.  Not night and day. Instruments pop a little more as a result.

It's going to take some more listening to really get a better feel for the rest of the differences, which feel very subtle to me.

I was disappointed that it didn't come in Schiit's usual foam packaging.  It was supported inside the box only by cardboard, and I could feel the unit moving around inside the box when I got it.  Still, it was undamaged and in good working order, so it got the job done.

Complaints about the loose button are overblown.  Yes, it's a little loose.  I don't tend to shake my DAC while listening, so it works out.  The button has a nice tactile feel when you click it and shuffles through the inputs properly.
