Aurender Flow 1TB Portable Player
« on: November 17, 2014, 09:00:05 PM »

Anyone familiar with this thing?

http://www.aurender.com/product_v1000.php

Gotta say, I'm not sure how I feel about that design. But it's cool and unusual.
Reminds me of the Calyx Femto DAC.
Can hold up to 1TB of music. Does DSD. LOL.

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

Is 'repeat' called 'spin cycle' on that thing?

I hope the mSATA slot in in addition to the internal storage.

The concept is genius, but ...

$1,295, plus approximately $500 for a 1TB Samsung mSATA SSD.

vs. $219 for a 2TB WD MyPassport Wireless plus $0 for the iOS app.

I must be going blind, because no matter how hard I try, I can't see the value proposition.

Nope.  There is no storage until you take off the back and plug something into the internal mSATA connector.

It looks like a door bell, and it is about a thousand $$ more than I expected --- but then, I have never got to grips with the latest hyper-expensive portable-player trend. Buying a Cowon eleven years ago felt like big money to me.
