EXS X15 IEM - Comprehensive Review
« on: November 14, 2014, 09:36:13 PM »

My customs were damaged in the middle of a recent trip so I decided to grab something to carry me through a long flight home.  Since I was in Korea I decided to skip the Sony, Beats, and Bose options to try something a little more "local".  I had considered EXS in the past and the airport shop had a sale on the X15.  They looked pretty nice in the packaging.

This is where I hoped to tell stories about how pleasantly surprised I was with them... I'll skip the fluff about build quality and cut to the chase, they suck.  Total  poo

Anemic would be my best description.  Somewhat decent if you're only interested in listening to everything from 1k-2k, but completely rolled off above and below that.  Tinny.  Harsh.  I think you get the picture.   :vomit:

I'd like to think these drivers are broken, but it seems hard to believe that both drivers could be THAT bad if it wasn't intentional.

I won't even give these to my kids, they deserve better sound.

Yikes- too bad.  They look kind of cool.  Did you make it to earphoneshop while you were over there?  The EXS X20 wasn’t too horrible- sort of along the lines of an ER-4 type of sound but maybe a bit more brighter.

I didn't.  Last time I was there for a while I think you and I kicked around a few options in the area.  That's when I first saw EXS.  I'd have been better off grabbing a 10 or 20 for sure.

I should have thought to reach out and see if anyone was available!! Sorry I didn't.  In the end I only had an afternoon off in Busan, the rest was spent working.

I managed to find someplace interesting to spend my free  time: http://goeunmuseum.kr/english_index1.php

Are you up near Seoul? If so, next time I'm through I'll see if I can create some layover and talk you into showing me some of the local headphone scene!

I am up near Seoul. Im about an hour south in Pyeongtaek, but I go up to Seoul a lot. Haha I might be able to be talked into doing that  :)p1 Id have to do some more research ahead of time though! there are loads of local meets here, like every weekend it seems like, but I don't go to a lot of shops...
