I'm using a NAD pp2i with a Project Carbon Debut. Any here have experience with or opinions the NAD pp2i? I don't have experience with other phono's but something feels off and I'm worried I could have spent that $150 on a much better phono.

Specifically, what sounds off?

The EQ... especially elevated mids on pretty much everything. However, that could just be the mastering on the vinyl being different for everything I've listened to so far. I don't do that much listening on my turntable.

While I don't even have a TT; definitely looking forward to this shootout. Always interesting to see how the cheaper stuff really compares.

If OJ doesn't have the same phone pre, I could send my TC-750 (the comparison would be VERY helpful)

Really curious about this.

I'll probably try pairing it with a Kuzma Stabi next year.

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

To throw some caution into the wind, I heard the Mani very briefly with my DL-103 (MC) and felt it had good noise floor but did not do my cartridge any favors; seemed harsh.  Results were much better with my Shure m91ED and sx-1280 (IMO better than the built in phono) but still felt it might have been lacking something I couldn't quite put my finger on, maybe lacking in fine detail?

I ended up going with a Phonomena II for the DL-103 which offers greater flexibility in loading and gain settings which I am pretty happy with so far; of course it is more expensive.
