Its been awhile since I've heard the WA7 but all I remember was I felt the DAC section was complete shit. Amp was just classic "Woodoo" sound.. but I can see it being a nice pairing with the energetic (fun) sounding TH-900. If that is the only headphone that is in question the WA7 has some possible value. Otherwise, I would stick with what you have, save, then buy something higher end (maybe a DNA Stratus.. as I loved the pairing with the Fostex).

I'm curious: When you turn the volume all the way down, do you still hear the music?

Lol, naughty boy!  People ask me the same thing but when the volume is all the way up.

Heh, ditto. WA7 is one those items I'd like to use for target practice. But can see good synergy with TH900. Supposedly the extra power cube makes it better. I skipped out on the chance to hear the extra power cube though at the Bay Area meet.

Ditto on Stratus+TH900 too, although could be past B's budget.

Even with the PS, the WA7 is still a class lower.  Did some AB at RMAF with and without, not remarkable.  Taurus would be on another technical level.

Yes I do still hear music especially on my TH900s.  I haven't tried that on my HD700s though.

Sorry I'm replying to these posts on phone given I can't view this site in my work computer due to people's avatars lol and so I'm being lazy and replying to each post individually.  I should have that I was using the WA7tp straight from my phone so I bypassed the DAC.

Yea I hear you and I don't remember getting the same detail out of the WA7tp that I get from the Taurus.  I really enjoy the Taurus with my HD700s for gaming.

**Added** it's funny you mention that because when I got home today I was thinking that I don't really want to pay $1000 for a amp/DAC combo when I don't plan to use the DAC.  I'll keep my "ears open" and see what Schiit and others come out with until I'm ready to buy.  For now the Taurus is at the top of my list.

So I've got the Taurus on loan again (wanted to see how it sounds with my HE-560s), since Thursday and I don't have to send it back until Monday.  I figured the amount I loan the Taurus out for is already being used for an eventual purchase from the TheCableCo. so I'm losing any money besides shipping.  I'm still enjoying the Taurus and I even loaned out an HE-6 also as I've not heard one before.  I was listening to some Brahms rendition by Riccardo Chailley (sp?) and I fell asleep a few times while listening to it during my daughters nap time (this could also be due to me being exhausted from having a wife who is 8 months pregnant).  I am feeling more immersed in my music listening with the Taurus.  This time around with the Taurus, I started turning off my computer monitors and the lights in the room (along with closing my eyes) and that seems to have helped with me being more immersed (less distractions) with the amp this time.  Do you all do the same thing when you listen to music?  I started noticing the layering that a couple reviewers wrote about the Taurus, I noticed this the most with classical music.  Cymbals are easier to hear with the Taurus than my Asgard 2 which is pretty neat.  I plan to also buy a Gungnir to pair with it.

The weight of the HE-6 is pretty noticeable after an hour or two.  As far as sound quality goes, from what I could hear the HE-6 has more bass impact (and maybe a tad more lower end presence) than the 560 but I thought they sound pretty similar.

I recently bought a Schiit Wyrd to pair with my Bifrost Uber and that was a very interesting experience.  I did notice an increase in micro-details (I think that's what Marv called it) so that fun experience.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share.
