General Headphone Amplifier Survey
« on: April 24, 2014, 02:00:21 PM »

This is my first post here, so hello everyone. I've been lurking here for a while reading headphone measurements, love the number of CSDs gathered here.

On topic: I've prepared a short survey on headphone amplifiers, specifically regarding poeple's preferences to things like brand, technical spec, and connectivity options. I also posted this over at HF and diyaudio.

As every forum is different I would really appreciate any input you guys might provide, as it would balance the generally subjective attitude of head-fi.

It's part of a case study I'm preparing for my university classes but with enough input perhaps it could prove useful to us audio-minded people.

Here's the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/773TTR3

I'll be grateful for your opinions.

Mackie? Like the brand of mixers? I've got one and I like it. Yeah... I prefer SoundCraft but I pick what I need and the thing has been really reliable. It has good headroom, too.

If Mackie's making an amp, fix the glare problem with solid state and also work up some crazy cool and edgy looking gear. Stackable is great for outboard DACs, too.

You should separate design from aesthetics.  Design should be circuit architecture.

Thank you for your responses.

I didn't realize that it's a brand of mixers but hey, perhaps I'll have more authority this way  :P

Regarding design - I had some doubts here but I decided to keep it simple, thanks for the input!

when you speak of priority and give the option of appointing numbers, what is the 'highest priority', is that '1' or '9' ?
