Meridian Prime... ASP is doo doo
« on: December 21, 2013, 02:18:58 PM »

The "Analogue Spatial Processing" thing sounds like poo. WTF

Made the HD600 sound like !$&$&@*@*$

I wanted to hightail out of there, even though it was one of the quieter rooms in the audio show I went to.

Better than the Explorer, at least, which was pretty shit.

What's up with this crap from England? Well, I really liked NAD's stuff I guess, so that evens it out.

What is it, a run-of-the-mill crossfeed?

Sounds like a "wall of echo" crossfeed.

A slider for fidelity. Awesome.

Maybe challenging to properly implement crossfeed in the analog domain. With the BitHead sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't.

LOL! Yes. When plugging the BitHead, I use it's crossfeed with songs and albums that have instruments hard panned to right and left. I also use the digital one that xnor did for fb2k... depends on the laziness factor at the moment and if the bitHead is plugged into the laptop.

It's fun to have the option.

Anyway, the analog crossfeed may not be perfect, but I find it convenient when needed with certain songs. Digital ones might yield better results, but more confusing knobs (presents help though).

Dunno how the Meridian one compares to the Headroom one...

I've only heard two different amps with crossfeed: the Jan Meier Concerto and the SPL Phonitor.

I actually preferred to turn it off on the Concerto, but it seemed to work decently on the SPL from memory.
