They are related to the Denons with respect to the drivers but I'm not sure which tbh. The bass is Denon like!!

That's what I'm curious about. Both the AH-D1001 and original CAL were OEMed by Fostex and are basically the same headphone. The CAL became more attractive once the 1001 was discontinued because the 1100 had WAY more bass and is generally a worse sounding headphone than the original.

Yes I have an 1100 and it is way too much in the bottom end. I'll compare the two of them actually.

I missed the Denon 1001 which was the one I really wanted rather than the one I got.
