I packed up the little Vali last night to return it to it's rightful owner and I'm honestly really sad to see it go.

For the few dynamics I've still got laying around it was a treat to fire up and listen to for hours. What can I say that's not already been said?  Good tonal balance and presentation, smooth as silk up high, good air.  Using the Anax Hd-800 and Paradox it never seemed to get anything wrong, and never left me wanting.

For $120 it could get away with a lot more... and at that price, how can you go wrong?

I have a question for my fellow Pirates about the Vali. Maybe it's just me but the little notch in the volume knob is very difficult to see, or even feel for if you listening in the dark. After taking some advice from purrin, I now directly adjust volume via the Vali instead of my media player, however it's still nice to know where the dial is exactly set at without having to put my eyes an inch away from the volume knob.

Any fellow Pirates have any creative suggestions on how I can make that little notch in the volume knob a bit more visible? Yes I could do the easy thing and cut a thin piece of tape or something there, but I was looking maybe for something more creative that didn't make the Vali look "cheezy" yet wouldn't void the warranty. My original idea was to take a very thin artist's brush and filling that notch with a little model kit paint, but was hoping maybe ye Pirates had a better or more creative suggestion(s)?

Thanks!  :)p2

Sharpie.  Wipe off any excess off the pot's face leaving the rest in the groove while it's still fresh.

Put your fingernail in the groove - you can adjust volume with your eyes closed then.

Not quite as simple, but you could pick a cheap knob you like better and replace it for that custom Vali look!

We've even got a few "knobs" right here on changstar!

Hey everyone, I am not sure if anyone else has experienced this problem with their Vali, but for about the last week or so I have had a constant loud "Tinging" sound coming from the amp when I play songs, and of course I am aware of microphonics with the Vali, however they usually go away in about 15-20 seconds and the amp remains quiet unless it is touched or moved or something, but then the microphonics "Ting" sound goes away again.

But for the past week, the "tinging" sound has been constant and very loud, I can hear it over my music. I did as Jason from Schiit suggested and pressed down the tubes to the adhesive really tightly as he told me to, but the problem persists and I can't even listen to songs with it anymore without that "tinging" microphonics sound being louder than the songs I am playing.

I talked to Nick at Schiit and he said that that problem is definitely not normal and wants me to send it in for them to take a look at it. I love Schiit, they are awesome and their customer service is top notch. Nick was quick to reply to my e-mail and was genuinely concerned about the issue, kudos to Schiit and their staff. I joked with Nick a bit and told him that when I return the Vali, that they could just send me a Valhalla instead lol! (I wish). I am just sad that I won't have an amp until they can get it fixed  :(

Anyway, has anyone else had this problem? I got the Vali about a week after it came out and my Vali number on the back is 000680.

P.S. If anyone has a Valhalla for sale or trade please PM me, I was told by a friend I trust that it would be a great amp to have for my HD650's. Send me a PM if you have a Valhalla to sell or trade.

Thanks, and if anyone else has had this problem with their Vali please post.

I think the tubes are probably just getting loose from the adhesive as time goes on. I super-glue'd the tubes to the adhesive, and the adhesive to the PCB.
