Well if i buy it i would not assume it sounds the same, but i would assume it would sound similar...

Valentin, have you heard it or are you just recommending it as a theoretical plausible solution?

Looking at the various BCL clones, i feel the major sound difference would be due to the various opamps they use, and certainly the original BCL is not supplied with opa627... mine has my beloved ad797's... some sonic differences might also be due to different capacitors also but i am not convinced it would make such a huge difference, but then i might be wrong.

Ok,... any more thoughts?

You mean that on the Mjolnir the treble was hot with stock HD800's? ... that will not do for me, because even with Anax2 on some recordings i still find them a little edgy, at least on my BCL/ODAC rig...

Any other recommendations apart from Schiit?

BCL (the real authentic one) is on the thinner sounding side of the spectrum. I could easily imagine BCL + HD800, even modded, having issues with some recordings.

The Mojo + HD800/Anax2 is fine and what Schiit actually demos the Mojo with along with the LCD3. Asgard 2 has plenty of power and is smoother more refined in the treble. The Mjolnir's treble can be on the raw side. The Mjolnir maybe sounds more explosive and impactful. They sound more similar than different.

I haven't listened to it. Tried to reach a dealer via e-mail, but no response. And I don't want to use TaoBao-agents for a amplifier that I know what the original sounds like, and although a bit fun, complete waste of cash with the alternatives I already own.

Lyr is good but very warm/smooth in comparison IME. I did like it with HD800 a bit more, and LCD-2. just not what I'd choose for myself.
but if smooth-but-not-too-bad is desired then surely it's an option

I'd recommend the V200 if warm and smooth is what are you looking for.

Thank you for the answers!!  :)p1

I am abandoning the Chinese clone thing, have send them an e-mail... no reply...

I am slowly getting the picture...

Asgard2 least power but ok for most headphones, smooth treble response, good headroom...

Lyr lots of power, lots of headroom, very smooth treble response (lower resolution?) can drive anything (good match for HD800), but no one here is thrilled about it?

Mjolnir awesome power, best headroom of the three (explosive), very resolving, balanced (have to modify cables), but the treble can be grainy?  might it be tiring with the HD800? (has this amp the more resolving but more neutral side {yet more dynamic} of the musical presentation than the other two?)

Have i got it right?

Assuming that i am going to buy an amp now and a better dac (resolution/DSD/smoothness/dynamics) in the near (or distant future) which of the three would be the best solution to sustain the dac upgrade and keep me happy without spending more cash in another amp upgrade? the Mjolnir?

PS. Sorry for all these questions, i most probably will buy one of these just on your recommendations without audition so please bear with me facepalm

You pretty much got it right.

The Lyr is the weakest of the lot in terms of resolution and microdynamics. Between Mojo and Asgard 2, that's tough, but I would probably go Asgard 2 myself because its neutral, has refined treble, and thus works really well with wide variety of headphones (HD800, LCD2, Fostex T50RP mod, etc.)

Another path could be the Vali for $120. That would already be a serious upgrade to BCL / BCL clone or V200 and could give you more time to mull things over or slightly upgrade your DAC.

How about the O2? It has plenty of power, neutral sound, and very low noise. That's what I plan to use when I buy a HD800 again.
