Nice update, I was a little surprised at your initial impressions though they were positive.  I definitely agree with you and VH on your feelings about the Code-X and HD800 now. There isn't a headphone currently available, used or new, that can tempt me beyond those two. They really have quelled my desire to get anything else. I wish I could say that for the rest of the chain though...

Definitely worth haunting the classifieds long term for HE5's.

Thanks lmswjm, system changes and experience do funny thing to our perception. 

As I said to my friend who just snagged a pair of Code-X.  Buy the Code-X now...HD800 will still be available in 20 years.   :)p10

When I first heard the Code-X, I wasn't sure if it was for me. It took a little while for me to adapt and appreciate all that it had to offer. Jerg paid them a nice compliment when he said he wasn't sure they had a signature he could describe in the short time that he spent with them.
