007's are much less prone to any problems.  You should be fine.

Tell that to Marv!  :D It's actually quite rare for a 007 to have an imbalance problem, Marv was one of the few I can recall.  Probably the most robust Stax headphone.

Yeah, his were 'fixed' by Spritzer/Burger.  Thank god he didn't get the DIYT2 from him.   facepalm

Marv's is the only 007 (MK2.5 I believe) I know of that's gone bad. I have 3 007s and they all work perfectly. Two are early-run MK1s and the other is an MK2.

I read that the MK2.5 uses updated drivers that share some of the work that's gone into the 009.

Maybe the issues are related to the said thinness of the 009's diaphragm, possibly in conjunction with shipping & handling methods?  Just a wild guess, though. I'm a current 007 owner who's saving up for a 009, and the frequency of complaints against the 009 does concern me to some extent.

I think the 009 drivers are 2 layers each so that makes imbalance that much more likely if one layer fails.
