Some quick measurements.
As I've said, they remind me a bit of the SR-Omegas. The most objectionable part is a slight hardness at 6k reminiscent of the HD800. They are not bright though. In fact, they sound rolled to me a little bit and not as airy - a minor quibble. Do not take this as missing treble. It's just that treble air is just slightly depressed - but still evident. Bass impact is similar to SR-Omegas, that is they hit a bit light.

Harmonic Distortion
Very low D2 (2nd order). D3, D4, and D5 are kind of high, though really no high enough to affect THD which in this case will pretty much follow the D2 line. It is very clean sounding with a very black background.

We don't have distortion for the Omegas do we? I felt they were a bit cleaner and sweeter from my recollection.

Not having "present" bass usually helps in things sounding cleaner.

Do you think the circular driver design may lead to the resonance at 5-6k?
Also, do you think an oval design may lead to several smaller resonances (see Jade and HE90 measurements.)

The matching should be down to the tensioning and coating of the diaphragm. From looking at his method he has a well thought out tensioning rig.
purrin are those the ones that have a 0.5 mm diaphragm - stator gap with 600v bias?

They were talking about using an egg shaped diaphragm to break up the resonances of the diaphragm in the ortho thread. Arnaud, if you have the time, could you do some simulations on diaphragms with convoluted edge?

Thanks Purrin for making the measurements of my headphones.
For your information, these are the specifications of the headphones you measure:
1. Active diaphragm diameter: 80 mm.
2. Spacer thickness: 0.5 mm.
3. Diaphragm thickness: 3 microns.
4. Stator and spacer material: 1 mm and 0.5 mm copper clad PCB respectively.
My diaphragm diameter is actually 2 mm larger than that of SR007.
I'm not sure what is causing the resonance. But I feel that the diaphragm diameter is a bit too wide. This makes tensioning the diaphragm quite difficult. I have to put a lot more tension on it in order to make it stable. Could this possibly be the cause?
