S7 power:
--300 ohms 200mW
--55 ohms 650mW
--40 ohms 900mW
--32 ohms 1.1 watts
--8 ohms 3 watts

BA:
--Power into 300 ohms 280mW.
--Power into 55ohms 900mW
--Power into 32ohms 1.5 watts.

HE6 is 50ohms.

BA has higher output Z, don't know exact numbers. I need to measure myself since every time I ask Craig I get a slightly different answer. Topology is similar, but BA has better quality output transformers.

I believe this is the heart of the DarkStar:

That is indeed it plus a phase splitter for the SE inputs.  That amp is an epic fail even by RSA standards...

Next time I order some PCB's I'll have some Darkstar boards made.  I have to find some use for all these transformers.  :)

I don't think it's as dynamic as the EC amps, but it does control and clarity better.

Magic* <------------------------------------> Control / Clarity
   BA-----------------S7-----------------------------LF

My interest in EC moves up and then I see this and it drops again :(  I thought the LF was... "Top tilted, light fuzzy character, tends to flatten and dry out, primary focused"
So if you are telling me the S7 is even less resolved and focused, that's not exciting.    Thoughts?

Control/clarity above refers to the bass. Just one aspect. We are talking small differences. From memory, I did feel the EC amps were less flat than the LF. But I do agree the EC amps are less" focused" than the LF if I am understanding you properly.

It sounds like you should just build a Dynahi.

My house insurance doesn't cover acts of stupidity :D  You don't want me soldering... ever.

I didn't spend long enough with the LF and LCD-2 to do critical listening, but the combo didn't grab me.  I was a bit disappointed given how well people spoke of their LF amps.

Now that looks interesting!  I wonder how it'll compare to the b22.

No one really gives a crap about that.

Interesting..I have a bunch of those output devices lying about.

I didn't spend long enough with the LF and LCD-2 to do critical listening, but the combo didn't grab me.  I was a bit disappointed given how well people spoke of their LF amps.

Its not an amp that calls attention to itself, and i myself have been underwhelmed a few times i have heard it in meet conditions.

haven't heard the S7, but the BA does have the tube magic to it. And agreed with Purrin on his observations viz a viz the LF.
