Bass is slightly muddy, but not horrible. The lower end "decay" is mostly a processing / visualization thing. UB's measurements weren't gated. I usually gate mine to 5ms.

Yes, the bass is not bad at all. For me it's usually easier to visualize that with distortion measurements. I will try to redo CSD with 5 ms gating, but most of the information I consider useful with CSDs (with the chosen parameters) is above 1 kHz.

Note that for the distortion measurements I used about 90 dBSPL with White Noise in this case. If I reference to 1 kHz then distortion is pretty high. IMO unfairly so. If I reference to 500 Hz then distortion is pretty low, perhaps also unfairly so.

Anyway, I did not feel like bass response was problematic or very thick with these cans.

Story: I saw the measurements on here today, and borrowed a friend's pair of Beats because it implied that the Beats I have couldn't possibly be as bad as they sound. Now I know I have a fake pair :'( It was a gift from a relative.

The Beats Solo are an atrocity. The Studios get a big "meh" from me, and the ANC an even bigger blah. The Pros get a slightly better meh on sound quality, but the increase in price and the fact that I have a boat anchor on my head decrease it back to a regular meh.

Do you think there may be an acoustic leak from the jack hole? ~Tyll Hertsens

Not sure if I like stuffing one hole or both holes. Tending toward one hole since both holes seems kinda ghey ~Purrin

OK. I redid the measurements but setting the level to 90dB with Pink Noise.

Frequency Response

Distortion Right (level @ 90dB with Pink Noise)

Distortion Left (level @ 90dB with Pink Noise)

CSD Right

CSD Left

Comparo with NAD HP50 (HP50 90dB@1kHz and Beats Studio 90dB Pink Noise)
