Title: LCD3 (non-veiled) FR Graph
Post by: Marvey on March 13, 2012, 03:46:24 AM
LCD3 (SUPER / non-veiled) FR Graph - "LCD3 #3 (good)"

LCD3 (#2V) FR Graph "LCD3 #2v"
Not my second pair, but another pair that I measured. It's better, but still sounds a little veiled.

Title: LCD3 (non-veiled) CSD Waterfall Plots
Post by: Marvey on March 13, 2012, 03:53:33 AM
Yikes! Although honestly I CAN'T hear the ringing at 4kHz (again - I'm not sensitive to the area between 4-5kHz), but it does make me uncomfortable. I'm wondering if it's an artifact or something loose. Need to investigate. Note the FR above gives a hint of this.

One thing I noted is that the metal cover / cage fits on the cup very tightly on the right side. In other words, it will stay without the screws on (the metal binds with the wood - the cutout is a bit too small). Wondering if this tight coupling between the wood and metal cage is causing it to ring at a very specific frequency.

These waterfalls are at the standard -36/-35db floors.

TEMPORARILY REMOVED

I find it interesting that my Aiwa orthodynamic headphones have the same "comb-filter" effect in the treble as the non-veiled Audeze LCD-3. I have not heard LCD-3 yet, but the Aiwas have a nicer moore natural and realistic treble that is better than any other ortho I have tested to date.
