Post by: Marvey on March 04, 2015, 05:30:12 AM
Ummm, if anyone else is playing Clash of Clans, I need a few more for my clan Danger Kitties to start doing wars.

I'm co-leader of a clan myself.  Walter White if you want to check it out...

My username is Skyline.

We war 2x/week and are trying to step our game up a bit.  Just started our own forums to communicate during wars, call bases, discuss strategies, etc.

My childhood friends have been begging me to play this, since they know that I find repetitive behaviors comforting and that I become super obsessed about inconsequential minutiae.

Absolutely one of the best trailers I've ever seen, lol.

After seeing this, I am convinced that they are no longer my friends.

You guys don't have teamspeak or equivalent?

No, it's very rare that everyone is online at the same time.  Talking to each other doesn't really help, anyway, since it's not an RTS game.

We need written records so we can go reference a chart to find out who has called which bases to attack, etc.

We do use Kik as a secondary communication method, though, when you need to reach someone quickly.

It's basically a fancy tower defense game (why I couldn't resist) with the twist that you also get to attack. You can't control your attacking army other than the initial placement of units. Different attacking units have different targeting priorities and paths. Ends up a matter of rock, papers, scissors. Asians tend to be good at this game - they are good at seeing and exploiting weaknesses in base design. The people who wreck my base always have three character fancy Chinese character names (this would imply Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore)

There's a lot of sitting around waiting for things to build. Structures at the higher levels can take days. Armies can take anywhere from 15 minutes to hours. You can do well with this game by only spending $20 to get extra builders. What happens with most people is that they get impatient, get pissed off that some random dude raped their base, or spend more resources (gold or grape juice or whatever they call it, I forget) than they get in return for attacking bases.

The game is ideal for someone who actually has some shit to do, but can come back to it once an hour or every few hours.

In terms of wars, the only thing that needs to be done is coordination of who attacks who and what helper / reinforcement units to send to friendlies.

Try weeks.

A lot of my upgrades are 14 days at this point.  *sigh*

I've managed to get through without spending any money...sort of.  I got a $20 gift card to the Play Store, which was put to good use to get my 5 builders.

I put a limit of $20 per month in place of the MMO monthly fees I used to pay.

After farming Dark Elixir at TH7 (which is really hard as you know) to get my King up to level 3, I sort of gave up and paid money to get to level 5 King for the rage spell. Makes barcher farming of TH6 bases much easier.

Yeah, I didn't really upgrade my king in earnest until TH8.  It's the price you pay for...not paying a price.

I love tower defense games, but is there any point to this if I don't really enjoy paying for things in-game? :p

will install and see!! might get good enough for danger kitties some day.

I haven't paid a cent to SWC. I'd imagine if CoC is the same, you just need patience and vigilance.

Don't spend any gems when you start to save up for your 4th builder hut. It does make a while, but the 4th hut is easily reachable. The 5th hut takes a little bit more time, but you can clear obstacles (trees, bushes, etc.) for extra gems.

One of my kids accounts still has 3 huts. Really don't need to spend any money at all.

Not permanently, but I could always hop over for a war or two.

I know don't if you would put up with our dumb ass shit. I've seen Knerian drop 10 dragons in front of a blower (when they were OP) and get them all wiped out in a matter of seconds.

We've also got a few others that want to prove how awesome they are by one or zero starring THs one or two levels up.

We're not doing this competitively, otherwise I'd freak out. Sometimes it's better to simply let people do dumb things so they can learn not to be greedy.

*shakes head sadly*

A little organization makes things more fun.  You can be competitive without being overly serious.

Winning is fun, after all.

I tried out for OneHive back in the day and they informed me after a tryout that I was not OneHive material.  I think I'm to a point now where I could get in, but screw 'em.  When/if I'm ready for a change, I'll join one of their main competitors instead.  :P

Last war was a good one for us. Better communication and coordination of attacks resulted in a dominant display. Some efforts fell short but others stepped up.

Did I really do that with the dragons?  You sure it wasn't someone else?   :))

Skyline, you're way beyond us but keep posting those vids.  Also if you do join a top clan let us know.

Skyline, we actually are not that bad. Our record is 20-7. That's pretty good with little organization, 30% different players each week (real-life, people rotating in and out), and a player who has been clubhouse poison for the past several wars.

Last war was a good one for us. Better communication and coordination of attacks resulted in a dominant display. Some efforts fell short but others stepped up.

Smalls was a good player, but ultimately not that useful for showing off how many top bases he could two star instead of three starring more appropriate bases. His antics put a lot of strain in the upper middle-tier players having to try to take up the slack.
