I really love the game of Go. I used to play tournaments and achieved the meager rating of 6 Kyu (AGA, which is inflated relative to European ratings, and probably most countries), but at this level you are really having a lot of fun.

Yes, but it's years since I touched the board. You happen to be familiar with any easily accessible online Go matchmaking clients?

You know, I am not sure what the landscape looks like today. I used to play on the KGS server, and typically got killed by 3 year olds. The Many Faces of Go program is really quite good as a computer opponent for Kyu level players, but not free...

I used play on KGS or Panda.net. It's been a while since I played. Tbh, nothing beats playing on a real Goban.

Afraid not. I'm REALLY into chess, and there's more than enough in that game to keep me busy.

I love to play go, but I really hated the online servers. Make an account, try to find someone ranked to actually play you so you can actually get a rank. 99% of the people didn't want to hear from you until you had some ranking. I have a cheap goban (which needs replacing, the bamboo is cracking) and some nice bowls/stones, but my room mates don't like to play.

Wow, three different people in this thread have the same avatar.
I agree, playing Go online is not my cup o' tea. I liked playing face-to-face, mano e mano, at local clubs.

wow so this isn't just me
I haven't played since I was like 17 in our high school's weekly Anime Club unfortunately
