Title: Audio Show Etiquette

This is sort of a follow-up on a link that anetode mentioned elsewhere:

As an attendee at headphone events, this doesn’t seem to be as much of an issue since only one person can listen at a time; thus avoiding the “problem” of exposing others to your tunes.  The only annoyance I’ve run into on rare occasion is the guy who wants to listen to his playlist in its entirety while pretending that line behind him isn’t really there.  Or the guy who wants to tell the rep his life story while sitting in the chair with the headphones in his hands.

As an exhibitor people seem generally good.  But I suppose some people can be a bit more heavy-handed than others with the gear.  That’s perhaps a small downside with personal audio- that people will be touching your stuff.  And that can create opportunity for accidents or abuse, as I recall Maxvla fell victim to once at a meet.

Anyway… thought it would be an interesting topic to throw around or create a nice little space to post your audio show wtf moment.   :-DD

Just to highlight one thing written in that last article:

"If you’re lucky enough to live in places like Denver or Chicago or Washington DC or San Francisco, you don’t even have to leave town to do it. But that can all change if it becomes too costly and too frustrating to do trade shows anymore—especially if attendees don’t seem to appreciate our hard work."

So this guy is saying that if these audio shows go away, it'll be because the crowds don't appreciate their "hard work"; not because they failed to properly promote or market their product at the show.   facepalm

To the ham-handed: if you break it, you buy it.

When you do not know something, ask first...
