WTF did I hear? Talk about uber forgiving and warmed over. I have no other way to describe these groundbreaking IEMs other than to compare them to actual broken LCD2/3s? I have no idea how purrin would describe these.

Never seen George Cardas before. From the way he presented himself, I was trying to decide whether he was a brilliant eccentric or just another audio kook.
I was on the same page with him when he was talking in-ear measurements, impedance matching, etc. But Eddy currents in an IEM magnet and all the other mat sci.? I guess I should read up more on this stuff before passing judgement on the guy. Wish I had a transcript to work with because I couldn't really remember what he was getting at in the first place.

You can hear these IEMs at the Atrium. 2nd floor by dCS/Ayre 204/205.
Cardas last year. Big difference.

Weren't these the continuously delayed iems? I remember following their thread a few years back but I never thought it would push through.

Yup. These were originally slated to come out in 2011 I think, but kept being pushed back. First time was because the neodymium magnets ended up destroying the drivers over time or something. Then some rep made a post on head-fi about Cardas "stumbling onto something big" and apparently delaying them to redefine IEMs as we know it or some other BS like that.
These always looked like ripoffs of FAD's 1601 model. After hearing reports of the way they sound, I'm starting to wonder if maybe these aren't OEMs of the 1601 after all! Hah.

Broken LCD3s would be giving them too much credit. Really really thick sounding with not much low bass. No resolving power. Rolled off treble.
Other ways of describing:
FAD1601 bandwidth (without the charm of the cavernous sound effect), but with thicker bass.
Veiled LCD3, but subtract resolving capability and low bass power of LCD3, and add some high bass low mids.
I've heard some bad IEMs, so it's hard for me to say POS.

So that's pretty much it... they suck? Any pricing or release date? Or nobody really cares at this point...

Well, I feel I have to caveat my impressions somewhat. The Cardas IEMs are not incoherent in signature or do they sound like they were tuned by a blind monkey. There is a deliberate 'Cardas tune' to them meaning don't expect much of anything above 2khz. So if people like that for the price maybe it'll be okay. Think maybe a warmer, darker Monster Turbine Gold with better imaging depth, less robust bass but still abundantly present. Something like that. If you know Cardas, he's allergic to treble so he achieved what he set out to do. I guess the way he set them up last year as being a revolutionary product I'd expect more than a sidegrade tune of a performance level already available on the market more than 2 years ago. So compared to the ER4/UERM type sig and performance level, we felt they were a big let down. Now perhaps next to the 1601 price performance, these are a bargain?

Interesting. I'm curious about the price because... well, you know.

I wonder if they'll have re-place-a-ble cables?

You can misconstrue his words better than that! ;)

~$450?
-
I take it from his design philosophy that the IEMs are tuned to the HRTF of a retracted conch.

Cool. I'll wait 'til Amazon Black Friday. :)p1

You guys do remember he came from telephony right? Not exactly the hotbed of his res audio.
