Title: Philips SHE3590
Post by: ultrabike on May 06, 2014, 06:45:22 AM
I got these for uber-cheap proly cuz they r getting discontinued...

Sound

These are significantly less bassy (and "fun") than the JVC XX but IMO manage to cover the low end well. That said, I prefer a little moar bass. The mids are decent. Treble is also more on the neutral side of things though I can detect some edginess depending on track played (most of the time not a problem).

Comfort

Awesome. The capsules are fairly small and light.

Presentation

Got black ones. Not much to say, these are fairly minimalistic and I sort of like that.

Price

Paid $8.7 ... Definitively not poo for the price. I think they are being discontinued which is unfortunate.

Overall

Kicks Ass.

Measurements

Again, please take these w a grain of salt. Disregarded information >10 kHz.

These look reasonably neutral for such a cheap phone!

Yup! They are quite nice actually. In a way I wish I still had my Audeos to do a comparo with these. Going by memory, the Audeos where analytical (not necessarily bright though) and had less bass than I like. These are less analytical and perhaps a tad more bass. For $8-9 these IMO are a great bargain.

Can't run with these type of cans though, and sticking stuff in one's ears is not for everyone. I feel this are relatively pretty comfy though.

If anyone's interested, the successor of the Philips SHE357x / 358x / 359x earphones is the SHE390x.

These and the old models measure nearly identical acoustically. I think the upgraded appearance of the SHE390x is quite pleasing to see.

They share the distinctive FR of most dynamic driver in-ear phones, but they boast gloriously low nonlinear distortion products and the FRs are easy to tame using EQ.

Kind of hard to find them now on the shelves. Good to still see them on-line. Price above ($10) is awesome in my book.

Got a pair of the new ones. They have quite the balanced sound and overall decent performance, nothing offensive which is simply not the case with most stuff under $300, haha. Rolled treble and a slight honk in the mids. Haven't listened to the new China stuff but these could very well be the KSC75 of IEMs.

Just bought AKG 323XS's. I was interested since they look very similar to the cheap 3590's. We'll see how they compare...
