Went to Coachella last year, 2nd week.  We got to Nas' stage early and were able to get pretty close.  It ended up being the 20th anniversary to the day of Illmatic and he had Lauren Hill come out at the end for 2 songs.  I don't think I'll top that hip hop moment any time soon, love Nas.

This thread needs more activity!  ahoy

I saw Oddisee announce the Aussie bit of his tour on twitter today so I'm looking forward to that. He's a producer mainly who is working on his rap game. Love his beats and his rapping skills are just alright/good.

You want more? Here you go. You need a good message.

Why, because it is like that.

Vicious battle raps for the ignorant. Skilled flows for the listener. (DJ Format is great, especially his collaborations.)

That movie is awesome! 8.5/10. I kind of want to give it a 9/10 personally. Total surprise to me how well done it was. People can see what real police abuse was in the 80's, not this modern fake shit with violent thugs, criminals and dopeheads being turned into false martyrs (exception of Walter Scott who seems to get the least attention). Most cops are good honest people trying to help. I know many personally and have mostly positive experiences as long as I cooperate, try to make their job easier when pulled over and show them due respect for the danger their job entails.  However, there are a few unethical power tripping insecure bitches who lie and abuse the system (I have had the misfortune to run across two in my time). To them I say...

I can't wait to see the NWA movie. Thought there was a pretty interesting article about the context of NWA here: http://pitchfork.com/thepitch/720-who-got-the-camera-nwas-embrace-of-reality-1988-1992/

I also loved the Tribe Called Quest Documentary that came out a bit ago. Speaking of which, Wax Poetics is putting out these incredible mixes that blend original samples with album cuts (the DJ is Chris Read of Who Sampled). This one is especially great:

It really is weird that we haven't had a hip-hop thread on here yet. I'll hopefully get a chance to see that NWA movie this weekend too.

And speaking of Ice Cube diss tracks, he gets destroyed by Common on Bitch In Yoo. It may be my favorite diss track ever:

Common referenced Das EFX. "When A Blind Can See It" your groove is tight and that is how J.B. meets EFX.

Good vlog Anaxilus. This needs to be added.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWvzU54JUjM&ab_channel=oldschoolbro

Also, whenever I hear african Americans complain while doing stupid shit I think: "play some James Brown and learn from him. He was a self-made man despite his origins."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZkjo3mNmsA&ab_channel=soulfunkPL

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97G8WtMNKbo&ab_channel=IkeDysonSOULTUBE

We all do stupid things and learn from them. J.B. was the man. Hip Hop did not just adopt his music. His attitude influenced everyone after him.
