Title: Measurement Primer?
Post by: Luckbad on August 30, 2015, 05:42:39 AM
I have most of the necessary equipment and all the necessary despite to contribute meaningful measurements of amps and dacs. Is there a primer for getting started?

What software do you use? Do you have links to instructions for using it?

What type of multimeter do you use?

How do you provide load?

I've gleaned some of this by reading the forums but would love as many details as you'd be willing to give.

Thanks!

Freeware, theres REW and Wavespectra. Help manual is pretty useful for most of the time except in Wavespectra where you mostly just figure it out yourself.

I use a fluke meter to verify stuff but thats kinda overkill, get a reputable brand true RMS meter if you wanna get decent measurements.

Load is always in parallel which means split adaptors, think of the analyzer as a voltmeter that measures voltage drop across the load. I personally use headphones as loads, but non inductive 33 and 330 ohm resistors are preferred to keep in line with standards.
