Not a piece of playback gear this time, but rather a mic preamp. I was looking around on Amazon and this thing looks to be about the cheapest standalone mic pre you can find. And it has a tube in it! p:0
Right now I'm using it with an AKG C3000B. I figure it'll be cool to record some vocal snippits. Eventually will tear it apart for science.

Yes, I'm not hearing any overt problems (No hum, hiss, clipping, nasties, etc.) either using the 48V phantom power + standard 9VAC wallwart. So that in itself is an achievement.

I was once considering this as a tube preamp to try out after my DAC but before my headphone amp. Would it work? I just want to try out tubes for cheap.

I don't even have a specific need for one but I'm tempted to pick one up anyways... except I'm not in the US and I would spend more on shipping than I would the product :p
