hello,
so the powers at Infinite Loop have killed their last click wheel interface DAP.
does anyone here. or in the wider world care? after-all, we have so many easy to use, and affordable options for carrying our music libraries with us.
although, i am looking at this device to help ease the shock.

Ive been waiting for a player like this. And generally there are not many bad things you can say about Sony players... Really love the fact that theyve thrown the useless touch screen out of the picture and added a micro sd slot as well.
128 + 64 gb is actually an upgrade to the 160gb and in flash. Can get rid of the bulky classic though Ive kind of grown to like rockbox.

Congratulations, you too found value for money. I understand the want for an advanced iPod Classic though. The only reason why I did not buy one was iTunes. Take the obligatory iTunes compatability away and I want one too.

I read the blog on Sony's new products for IFA 2014. The XBA IEM looks intriguing since I've never owned IEM/CIEMs before.. Would anyone know if the MDR Z7 is the upgrade to the MA 900 (which is well written up here)?

The MDR Z7 has a big driver, just hope it is the same or improved driver in a structurally improved headphone.

i don't find iTunes to be all that bad (but then, i also manage the GYTW's devices.)
the telling remark in the linked video is the (most likely misquoted) query: "Do you want a dedicated mp3 player?" i would suggest that many of us do (albeit with loss-less files), but are unwilling to tolerate the half-baked UI's of the competition, or unwilling to go all in on an A&K.
tellingly i had my modest stack (iPod Classic, JDS Labs C5) with me on a bus trip this weekend. the great thing about the click wheel is the ability to navigate the menu while it is out of sight in a hoodie pocket. that is now lost.
i also wonder about the mass market not knowing/caring about better sound from a dedicated DAP. if its all smart phones now, will the non-hobbyist ever consider something better?
i am thinking that the new SONY may be a viable alternative. we shall see.

I missed my iPod more than I realized. The wheel is such a convenient thing to have. RIP to mine after a failed experiment on Rockbox due to my negligence. Bricked it real bad T.T
Fiio X5 looks like iPod. But I haven't get to know if the wheel does what iPod's does.
