This looks weird....WOW...what a curve..I guess this would mean that the voices are very prominent with very little bass.   Is that what you hear when you have these on?

I just heard a lot of midrange. Couldn't listen to them for long. My notes before I measured them: "huge wide bump at 3kHz. typical AT BS." LOL that's all I wrote.

They do have bass though - just couldn't get over the in-your-face mids. Think W5000.

Wow, I have no idea what to make of that FR curve. Is there a special Japan only version of these?

Maybe this is the frequency response of most J-pop...  ;D

Very strange... :(  The look of the sound is... painful.

Actually the sound is very nice and what I would call emotional, not painful at all.  I guess this is just more of the "AT" family sound coming out of them.

Here is another curve for this same headphone:  Can anyone explain the differences in curves? Technique?

Let me measure again - I could have messed up on something.

The other dreaded explanation: product variation. But these headphones didn't sound right to me. Do you mind if I keep them for a few more days and left Anax listen to them to see if he hears the same wierd midrange that I do?

Yes, your welcome to keep them a few more days.  Just let me know when to expect them back.

Thanks for the measurements.

What does the new final FR curve look like?  The top portion of the waterfall charts is cut off this these images if they are the updated ones.

Was that any good?

Corrected FR posted after much pestering.

Very clean sounding and played around with the pads a bit to get more bass. Still has that AT mids thing going on. Just too much. Again, reminds me somewhat of the W5000.

this guy is right. i mean look at that horrible ringing between 12k and 15k(something wrong here). also the rainbow is inaccurate. there is suppose be some green and purple as well.  that graph is absolutely preposterous. must be obviously the flaw in the amping and not transparent enough source. only logical explanation.

Wow, I'm not sure if I missed the revised measurements of these, but they are damn clean!  They look like they would sound really good.  I guess that 5k peak is bothersome though.

Respect to AT though for the welcome cleanliness.

I've owned a pair of these and kind of regret selling, they did sound very clean and I do kind of like the frequency curve. a bit warmer sound I suppose? but I just couldn't use them portably, they look way too nice. so afraid of breaking them. anyone know a similar sounding pair for portable use? will amp. :P

They are pretty unique. Nothing quite sounds similar. You could try DT1350. The good units sound good. The bad units sounds bad.

oh, that's unfortunate. just looked at the measurements of the DT1350... even more unfortunate, that looks like a terrible lottery! I'll keep reading about them to see if they might be worth the effort.
more suggestions welcome, meanwhile

thanks! :)
