Saw Booker T. 4-6 years back and I actually thought that in person it was pretty lifeless, unfortunately.
But I do like letting the best jazz take win, with small flaws intact...

Seriously, this guy is the Skip Bayless of audiophila.
[shipsupt - don't want to rain on your parade or anything, I know you got enjoyment out of this. SG's relentless prostelytizing and complete reductionism of others has just finally gotten my goat.]

I was easily able to pass over the Steve's editorializing and focus on the commentary from Steve Jordan and Gabe Roth... but that's just me.

Unlike most of SG's articles which are little more than click-bait, this isn't pure idiocy for the sole purpose of stirring up a reaction. It is however, completely obvious and something that's already been stated over and over. Modern recording sucks. Hyper compression sucks. We know that.

To me the article started to sound like it was going down the path of "analog is great and digital sucks 'cuz that's how it sounds to my ears." But then it seems things changed towards the overuse of Pro Tools and similar, which seems more plausible to me.

That said, towards the end of "The perfect-sound myth" article, he links his "Accuracy Is Not the Answer" article at Stereophile, and says he covers the issue in greater detail there. I disagree. His "Accuracy..." Stereophile article seemed more like a classical "analog is great and digital sucks..." kind of deal.
Maybe this is good. Maybe SG is acknowledging that the way many recordings and remasters are done is a "limiting factor" as he puts it...
