Title: How to delete my account?
Post by: Tor4 on February 17, 2015, 08:36:06 PM
I wanted to delete my account here for many months by now but I still seem to struggle to find any option in my Profile or anywhere... Could anybody advise me how to accomplish it, or delete my account instantly (if given the rights to do so)? I don't want a ban - I would like to fully delete my account from here. Thanks a lot in advance.

Sorry - no can do. We like to maintain records of disgruntled users' accounts, IP addresses, and other info. The accounts are not purged for this reason.

Dude, I'm not sure what's gotten into you again but I think you have to relax a bit for your own sanity, people here actually do care and appreciate your input but you can't expect everyone to agree with you. I for one hope you change your mind and keep sharing your stuff with us.

It's odd that some people ask to be banned (in various ways). Why not just take a break if all this audio talk gets to be too much?

Is there any way we could have a  music bird symbol or some other note on a banned account so people don't end up replying to or pm'ing a zombie?

Meltdowns are just part of the internet, nothing you can do to prevent them.

For the record, I truly did appreciate Tor's contributions, especially the write-ups on his HE-500 mods. For reasons not entirely known to me, Tor had a meltdown a few months ago, deleted all content related to his HE-500 mods, and subsequently disappeared. His last post before he disappeared was on October 22, 2014.

I suspect maybe the "belligerent one" gave him too hard of time with his popping up in every other headphone thread and every four lines in the shoutbox proclaiming his tweaked HE-500 as the "best evar".*

No harm, no foul. This place isn't for everyone and maybe he discovered that he didn't fit it. There's no problem with people saying they like something. But I think we know that if anyone makes claims of something being "the best evar", they better be able to qualify such claims in an articulate manner and also practice good behavior by not proclaiming your gushing love for such every hour on the hour. Those of us who have been around know that we disagree with each other all the time. For example, I happen to like the ECZD. The belligerent one happens to think the ECZD is a piece of shit. He gives me a hard time. We laugh. But we also understand each other's perspectives. That's how it rolls here.

What gets me is that after Tor decided this place wasn't for him, he has the gall to come back and start posting again, this time on February 10, 2015. I find this behavior annoying, especially since he deleted his most informative posts. It came off to me as if he considered himself some sort of high and mighty holder of knowledge - and we must worship, agree with, and not challenge him - otherwise we would have no access to his secret knowledge of his HE-500s mods. LOL, fuck you Tor. If there's one thing that annoys the fuck out of me, it's passive-aggressive bullshit such as this. This is when I lose all patience with someone. (There was some discussion regarding Tor among the admins and mods, and I don't think any them felt a good deal of love for him because of his meltdown.)

I also found Tor's recent injection of his "my tweaked HE-500 is da bettar" schtick in the HE-560 MODIFICATION thread annoying. I probably would not have reacted had he qualified his comments: "I prefer my tweaked HE-500's tonal balance and in my experience, I couldn't duplicate that tonal balance with the HE-560 despite what I tried". But the fact is he didn't. The truth is that I was being intentionally being a dick (mirroring his statement) when I curtly replied "tweaked HE-560 > tweaked HE-500". It was actually a test to see how he would react. Well now we all know.

People don't get banned here for a "myriad of reasons" or for "understanding but not agreeing" or "agreeing and not understanding" or whatever doublespeak. People get banned here for a reason.

*P.S. It turns out it may not have been the belligerent one. OJ just told me that he called Tor a retard. :-)

"the belligerent one", that should be a word filter already.

Who could that be??

Hey, if I go to a meet and Marv or someone else doesn't like what I brought, I listen. If I don't agree I don't think "fuck you", we just have different priorities. No problem, we are here to have fun and exchange ideas and opinions. It's a frickin hobby! Like I will still give Marv a second chance to like my amp with a different tube.  He might change his mind. Or not.

And even if I don't think your amp is the bees-knees, I'll at least flip some switches around and make it sound better :-)

Yes. Specifically the On/Off switch. Unfortunately Ron doesn't have one himself. Maybe we could get the Baron OJHarkonen to install a heart plug at the next meet? ;p

Maybe the next audio tweak is a switch for:
1. On
2. Off
3. Internal self-destruction (Set for final deactivation of the power supply, the internals remain safe and reusable.)

I would appreciate that switch for practical reasons when I consider something too shit to even recommend.

If it's free I'll take it. I'm sure my wife would like the On/Off switch idea. :)

And thanks again Marv for switch flipping!
