Title: Ideas for Product Comparisons
Post by: burnspbesq on November 03, 2014, 05:03:34 AM
Before we get too deeply into this project, a Vali/Modi vs. iFi Nano iDSD shootout should be arranged.  Some eyes might be opened.

And we also need to start on that 7 cheap headphone comparison as well.

That's progressing. We are trying to obtain as many of the headphones as possible - contributions to the effort. After we nail that down, we'll go begging for money to fund the remaining purchases. Not in a hurry to get it done, but the 7 headphone comparison will progress.

And add Fulla, GO450, and GO1000 to the above comparison.

What headphones are you still missing? Maybe I have something laying around.

So far wnmnkh has offered the Monoprice 8323, Sennheiser HD439. I think I should be able to see if UB still has his HD558.

But here is the official list:

HD558 $152
M50x $169
AD700x $150
SR80e $99
HM5 $130 (XPT100 $100)
K240S $113 (?)
Monoprice $33

And Geek Out SE for shits and giggles, right? I have a 720 if you want to try that, too.

The SE and Triad should be in Marv's hands sometime early this week. The 720 is still on my nightstand but I can send that down south, too.

Argh, if we are going to compare cheapo dacs, we have to include FiiO. It's the biggest brand for headphone related stuffs. It's no.1 item if you type 'headphone amp' on Amazon.com.

E10K, E07K and E17 are worth to look for.

Plus : Also DacMagic XS from Cambridge Audio. It has support up to 24/192 instead of 24/96.

Gimme pls that Vali/Modi vs. iFi Nano iDSD shootout. That's precisely what I have right now and what I was planning to have. I'd love to know how much difference it'd be. Haha. Thanks in advance!

I don't want Asia to be left out of this. I have a brand new GO450 that I can send northwest. Lemme know who to send it to.

yeah some cheap dac/amp comparisson should be nice too, I think most people will use their headphone with cheap and crappy onboard Pc audio like me, but the headphone is probably the most important. Maybe IEMs in the future...
