Dug these up by request

Thanks for posting these, purrin. What do you think of them, assuming you had a chance to listen to them? I felt they did a lot of things well (and the HM5 model was priced reasonably), but I just couldn't really warm up to them. Something strange about their presentation, IMO. I could definitely hear the dip around 300Hz when I first put them on, though I couldn't immediately identify it until looking at graphs. I wasn't expecting the treble to look as peaky in some places as it does, but that would actually explain a lot of what I'm hearing.

The mids are good. Bass is strong. Treble is peaky in a few, but tolerable for me. The overall FR is decent. Can't really complain at the price.

I really do consider the $70 rebrands of these to be the closed kings of their price bracket.

Yeah, they're hard to beat at that price range. I still can't figure out exactly what it is about these that sound so off to my ears, though...

The mids sound nasal to me

With its bump, I can see that. I actually kind of like that nasal effect.

It seems like there'll be an update to the Fa-003. I've been eyeing this can for a long time now but the announcement is making me want to wait a little longer for the revised edition. They even posted a new square wave response to compare with the old one:

Skeptical of titanium diaphragms myself.  Haven't heard one I liked yet.

Is it because titanium drivers have something inherent in them?

I find Koss KSC75 very, very competent.

Looks like they added a helluva more treble to the phone going by them squares.

They are probably building off the "High Edition".

If it's anything like the High Edition...you will need a Leben to enjoy them.

I've got an HE.. LFF's review on HF was spot on.. it's a picky bastard.. but pretty damn good, still.  A/Bing with the HD800, I can see where (in places) the 002w-HE can comes sniffin' around.  One thing I noticed with the 003/002w was that the driver needs to be positioned fairly close to the ears (compress the pads) for a more even (midrange) response.

I've been talking with an FA rep.. they'll be revamping the HE line (among other things, we can expect better components in the APC-02 filter).  FA's developing a hybrid driver IEM, too.. and are in the early stages of co-developing a planar (!).

:)p3

Cat's finally out the bag!

They have been working on that headphone for a L O N G time. The guy in charge is, first and foremost, a music lover and he has been slaving over producing his idea of a fantastic planar.

That said, I have yet to hear it but I have high hopes.

Just sacrifice to the gods, they will bless the driver with their heavenly powers. If not just keep the guarantee certificate close...

re: FA-003
I can't find this info anywhere online (other than passing reference), but the driver on these looks identical to Senn HD 6xx. Is the driver a proper clone? Or did they just borrow the form? I understand these are closed, but I wonder whether or not they just slapped a closed shell over the 600 driver. Anyone know?

re: Odin
80mm driver is same size as HFM and Audeze correct? It seemed f-ing huge when I read it, but then I measured my 560's and they appear to be the same.

Fisher Audio (FA0-003) and Sennheiser (HD6xx) have nothing in common except perhaps the oval shape  ;)
Different drivers....

Sensitivity of 104dB... would that be @ 1mW or 1V?

And any idea of pricing?

That is very close! Maybe some changes to the enclosure and volia!

EDIT: The HD600 seems like a 50mm driver made out of "Duofol". The FA003 seems to be 42mm titanium coated:
