Title: Ultrasone ED8 Edition 8 Frequency Response and CSD Waterfall Plots
Post by: Marvey on March 01, 2012, 12:53:21 AM
Ultrasone ED8 CSD Frequency Response and Waterfall Plots. This headphone sounds nasty. Like Beats Studio, but with treble that causes high frequency hearing damage.

For significantly less the HD-25 1-II is looking better.

Are you going to do FR?

That spike at 15K looks like a prison shank!

I'm wondering about unit-to-unit variances now too. Seeing that these two drivers aren't very well-matched, it would probably be safe to assume consistency between units are also poor.

Look at Tyll's measurements on them. One channel has the spike, the other doesn't.

Yeah, that's about 10dB.

Just looked at the Pro900 and as you know I'm very sensitive to 5-6Khz spikes.  Look at 4-5.5Khz.  20dB swing!  I was being kind on Head-fi.  My reaction was like RD's to the Pro900.  Literally 5-6secs on my head before I had to rip them off.  Plus absolutely turd bass response.  I still think the HFI580 is the only Ultrasone I've ever liked.
