I'm still on the look out for some additional off-board boards.  If anyone has some collecting dust I'd love to take them off your hands.

If I have no luck tracking some down and Lil Knight or someone else doesn't do another run I may eventually do a run... so if anyone else is interested in getting some boards for a build let me know as well.

Some parts are becoming a little harder to track down for this build, but with a little persistence all of them cans till be had.

Last I checked with him over on HC he didn't have spares... I'll give him a jingle just to be sure.

What does the total parts cost of the KGSSHV usually run?

I think there's a google docs somewhere which gives the estimate cost of parts. Around $1050 or something like that? And each board set is about $70 + shipping.

I saw a post on HF Lil Knight is doing another run? I have his last run & am going to group buy parts with another member to save on shipping.

Glad this thread is open :-). I read HeadCase (not signed up yet) but too fearful of posting there.

I did just ordere another really small, like 10 sets of each version, most were spoken for.
Some days in the future I will try to stock a whole pile of boards to lower the price  ::) Part cost has been increasing significantly lately and only large quantity can guarantee a reasonable price.

Good to hear you are staring to work on the KGSSHV, V. Looking forward to more progress.  :)p15

BTW, if anyone has 230v mains, I have a spare, unused toroidal transformer that you can have for free, just pay the (high) shipping cost. I spec'd for big core so it's rather huge, 50% larger and heavier than that of SumR.

What does the total parts cost of the KGSSHV usually run?

The "basic" parts from Mouser/Digikey (resistors, caps, half of the semiconductors and various other parts) = aprox. 300 USD
Uncommon/harder-to-source semiconductors = aprox 150 USD
Boards aprox 85 USD incl. S&H
Attenuator = aprox 30 USD (I chose a cheap/good alternative Alpha Quad)
Case with heat sinks = 300 USD to 600 USD (depends on how many details one wants to have factory made)
Knob / Feet / Switches etc. = 150 USD
Trafo = aprox 120 USD

And of course... wire, heat shrink, techflex, screws, etc.

The "most" important thing is that the case costs a lot. I can most likely be done much cheaper, if one has the expertise/tools to drill, cut aluminium and so forth. But I want the distances to match and everything to be done professionally.
My case will cost about:

28 €
KGSSHVHeatsink 3U (200 mm x 40 mm x 120)43PD03200Modushop

Lil'knight,

You're almost competing with Justin in terms of case awesomeness there ! Looks fantastic.

There isn't such thing as overkill!  Sweet chassis.

I will never be able to reach Justin's level. Haven't owned any of his big boys (GS-X or BHSE) but the build of his portable amp alone is stunning. I looked at his competitors' prices and kept wondering how on earth they are able to charge as much as the BHSE with such less quality.

V, nice front panel design. I personally prefer to keep the volume in the middle though.

I think you're right regarding the volume. Redid the mock-up for the Dynamite/DynaPSU, with it centered. And yes, so shall it be.

Btw.. I have lots and lots of different logos I did in HPGL-format. If anyone is interested. Otherwise I have the original CorelDraw-files too. Just saying. ;)
