Both 2A3x4 builds are SET so not audiophile balanced or push/pull.  They are actual balanced amps but do not have balanced input only SE.  So you would need XLR>RCA cables.

Ah gotcha, so it is single ended in, but each channel would have its own 5842 -> 2A3 as opposed to "sharing" a driver tube?

Yes there is a difference.  IPTs and rectification for starters.

Excuse my ignorance but what is an IPT? Also, aren't the output transformers on the Levi different from the 2A3x4.

With regards to the rectifiers, if the Levi will be using the 6D22s, then it will likely be the same as the 2A3x4.

The Levi's power supply will use xenon glow tubes. The 4x2A3 will not.

However I've heard that Craig will offer them for the 4x2A3 as an option if enough people request it (and I have a feeling enough will request it).

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

The interstage transformers.  As of now they'll be Tangos on the Levi, EP on the EC.

The Levi won't be using Tango OPT's anymore, that will be reserved for a more expensive amp later on.

This stuff is all going to be confusing until things are more solidified and someone comes up with a clear list showing what each amp will offer.

So there's 3 amps now? X4, Levi, and Moth?

I hope it is not a rumor because I placed my order  :)p17

Seriously though, everything that Purrin has in the first post is the information I have received from Craig.  The only thing that is subject to change at this point for the X4 is the solid state vs 6D22 for the PSU.  With respect to the Levi and Moth I can't help.

Just an update for anyone interested..I spoke with Craig today about the power supply.  He told me that the damper diodes play with more power and tighter base compared with the more musical sounding 6D22S.  I opted to go for the 6D22S, though it doesn't sound like there has been a decision made yet between the two yet.

You mean solid state diodes?  The 6D22S is a damper diode.  You have to be careful when you talk to Craig.  You might ask him about Mangos, but he's talking about the red berries w/ the seeds on them.

I believe so... Looking back at his email he actually referred to it as the damper diodes and the 6D22S rectifiers, which is where the confusion came from.  From the way it was phrased I am assuming that he meant the solid state diodes.  Thanks for pointing out the error.
