Are these drivers identical to Lowther drivers that can be bought from Lowther or are these re-tuned somewhat for Moth's specs

They look awesome. I'm gonna sell my Martin Logan's and look for some changstar recommended speakers haha, everything I bought lately was recommended here and is super awesome  :)p13. Welcome to changstar, your wallet will be thankful!

Purrin do you use the Mjolnir as a sort of balanced pre-amp?

The only Martin Logans I really liked were the CLS. The old hybrids sucked. I havent been in the US for 12 years so I missed out on the newer models

The highs are really nice on these, but I don't like the bass (seems a bit muffled), and the crossover is to evident for me.  They perform exceptional on classical music, but on anything else, not so much :)p3. Loved the magnepan's soundstage, but the detail just isn't there.

Dononus:

tnt-audio:

The Cicada uses a full-range, single-driver in a bass-reflex cabinet. The driver is a custom-designed, 7 1/2-inch (16cm), full-range driver with a whizzer cone that is made from stiff, lightweight, white paper. The driver, which looks outwardly similar to a Lowther driver, has a higher Qts than a Lowther allowing reasonable efficiency with a ported enclosure. The Cicada is rated at 94dB/1W/1M, efficient enough for almost any 2A3 or 300B SET amplifier. While this is not as efficient as most Lowther-based speakers, use of a bass-reflex cabinet reduces manufacturing costs substantially. The driver has a free air resonance of 50Hz, which, combined with the ported cabinet design, results in a rated frequency range of 60Hz to 18KHz.

Stereophile:

The Moth Audio Cicada is built around a 7" full-range, dual-cone driver with a small voice-coil gap, moderately large magnet assembly, and asymmetric mounting bolts. In other words, Moth's driver, which is built to their specifications in China, is a Lowther-alike. Its main and high-frequency "whizzer" cones are both made of yellow, parchment-like paper, and its single voice-coil is wound on the outside of a former that seems to be made of some heat-resistant plastic. (That last bit departs from common Lowther practice, where the coil former is an extension of the cone material itself, and the wire is wound on both sides.)

The Moth driver felt stiffer than the average Lowther, said stiffness appearing to come from the spider rather than from the foam surround, and the voice-coil gap appeared a bit bigger than I'm used to seeing in drivers of this type. That said, the Moth was perfectly well aligned and exhibited no sign of scraping (a common occurrence with Lowthers that pick up crud in their voice-coil gaps or have been damaged in shipping), although one Moth driver appeared to play very slightly louder than the other.

Looks like he's driving them with the Mjolnir just as he did with the Fostex set.
